From Tokyo Station to Shibuya Against an 18-Second Clock

Bakuso Kickboard opens right outside Tokyo Station between the Marunouchi and Yaesu exits with an urgent morning mission: reach the Bakuso Shoji headquarters building in Shibuya before being marked late for work. Released as an instant-play 3D web game by solo developer Kosuke, the run starts with just 18.0 seconds on the clock and immediately points the rider toward the next stop along the Yamanote Line corridor, beginning with Yurakucho.

Every station gate acts as an arcade checkpoint. Crossing a station adds precious seconds to the countdown and refreshes the HUD with the next Yamanote stop and exact remaining distance in meters. Once a player reaches the Shibuya office and clocks in, the game offers an optional Full Loop Challenge that carries over the remaining timer through Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Ueno all the way back to Tokyo Station.

  • Station Checkpoints

Passing each Yamanote Line station extends the remaining timer and updates the HUD target marker.

  • Full Yamanote Loop

Arriving at Shibuya unlocks an extended run through Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Ueno using leftover time.

  • Shareable Commute Card

The post-run screen records score, top speed in km/h, total distance in meters, near-miss count, and max combo.

Building the Limit Gauge Through Near-Misses and Ramp Flips

Under normal riding conditions, clipping a taxi, sedan, or sidewalk mannequin causes a heavy speed penalty or a full wipeout. To maintain momentum, riders must turn street hazards into fuel for the Limit Gauge. Knocking over roadside trees, street signs, and traffic cones, launching off ramps for midair flips, and skimming inches past moving cars all charge the meter while stacking a Near Miss combo multiplier.

When the Limit Gauge reaches 100 percent, pressing the Space key or tapping the on-screen activation button triggers Limit Break. During this window, the commuter becomes completely invincible and surges forward at extreme speed, bowling through cars and barriers without losing velocity. Saving a full gauge for congested intersections or tight expressway bottlenecks keeps both the combo chain and average speed intact.

Three Courses, Vehicle Swaps, and Motion-Sickness Camera Controls

Before leaving the starting line, players select from three distinct routes. Morning Commute (two-star difficulty) follows the classic Tokyo-to-Shibuya surface streets. Shuto Expressway Night (three-star difficulty) reverses the premise into an after-work dash from Shibuya onto the raised metropolitan highway to get home before midnight. Shuto Expressway Night Hard (four-star difficulty) lines the highway lanes with dense rows of divider poles that demand razor-sharp steering.

Players also choose between two vehicles that invert the traffic ecosystem. The recommended Kickboard offers tight handling to thread between full-sized cars, whereas selecting the Car gives the player a wide chassis while replacing surrounding road traffic with mannequins riding kickboards. Three camera perspectives are available—Standard, Dynamic, and First-Person—and the pause menu lets riders toggle 360-degree flip rotation on or off, adjust wind audio volume, and move the Limit Break button between the left and right sides of the screen.

How to try it

  1. Pick a Course and Vehicle

Open the browser game and select Morning Commute, Shuto Night, or Shuto Night Hard, then choose either the agile Kickboard or the wide-bodied Car.

  2. Configure Camera and Rotation

Select Standard, Dynamic, or First-Person view; if you are sensitive to motion sickness, switch First-Person camera rotation to Off before departure.

  3. Chain Near-Misses Toward Each Station

Follow the HUD distance indicator to the next Yamanote Line station while grazing traffic, hitting jump ramps, and knocking down cones to charge the Limit Gauge.

  4. Fire Limit Break and Attempt the Full Loop

Press Space when the gauge is full to blast through dense traffic invincibly, clock in at the Shibuya office, and choose the Full Loop option to keep racing around Tokyo.

FAQ

How do you stop the screen from spinning during flips in First-Person mode?

On the pre-race camera menu or inside the pause screen, switch the First-Person setting from Rotation On to Rotation Off, or change the camera view to Standard or Dynamic.

What changes when you select the Car instead of the Kickboard?

The Car has a much wider body that makes dodging obstacles harder, and all surrounding traffic on the road switches from cars to mannequins riding kickboards.

What happens after you arrive at the Shibuya office building?

You clear the initial commute and can either view and share your result card or select the Full Loop Challenge, which carries your remaining seconds through Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Ueno back to Tokyo Station.

Does Bakuso Kickboard require an account or download?

No. It runs directly in desktop and mobile web browsers for free without registration, and includes touch-friendly left/right placement options for the Limit Break button.
