A screen Apple wants in the middle of the house
Designed to be central to the home and personal to everyone in it.
On October 13, 2026, Apple introduced HomeView from Cupertino and put the full announcement on apple.com. The pitch is one device for entertainment, staying in touch, and running the house. Hardware in the release centers on a 7-inch Liquid Retina display. From that screen you can play music, place FaceTime calls, check home monitoring, and trigger hands-free automations by voice. Apple says the whole experience is powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI, with privacy and security at the core.
Pre-orders started the day of the announcement. Availability begins November 13. Reviewer Marques Brownlee marked the product official the same day, said he was going hands-on, and put the price at $299. Apple also refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini alongside HomeView. The opening of the HomeView release treats those as companion launches and leaves their specific changes for their own announcements.

It knows who is in front of it
HomeView recognizes users by their faces, adapting so they can access their personal content.
HomeView is built as a shared screen that still belongs to one person at a time. It recognizes faces and then opens that person's own material. Apple names five apps in that handoff: Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My. A shared household display can therefore surface your calendar or your Find My results when you are the one standing there.
Siri on this device is Siri AI, which Apple calls an entirely new version: more capable, more conversational, and backed by broad world knowledge. That knowledge is aimed at richer music discovery and at onscreen awareness, so the assistant can talk about what is actually on the display. Pair HomeView with an Apple Intelligence-enabled device and it can also use personal context from Calendar, Messages, and relevant information across your apps for more helpful answers. The newsroom page titles a section Private and Secure by Design; the opening text states that promise and leaves the processing details to the rest of the release.
- Your apps, after it sees you
Face recognition adapts the screen to your Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My.
- Siri AI
A new conversational Siri with world knowledge, richer music discovery, and awareness of what is on screen.
- Personal context
Calendar, Messages, and relevant app information come into answers when an Apple Intelligence-enabled device is paired.
What changes for you, and what is still open
For a household, HomeView is Apple's attempt to replace the pile of speaker, photo frame, and spare tablet with one screen you talk to. Music and FaceTime cover the everyday cases. Home monitoring and voice automations cover the smart-home case, which Apple's own headings call the ultimate smart home dashboard. For developers, the pieces that matter are onscreen awareness and hands-free automations: those are the surfaces where home accessories and media apps will have to show up clearly on a small display used by more than one person.
Several headings on the newsroom page are still ahead of the details in the opening text. Elegantly Designed for Any Space, Faces for Every Style, and Apple HomeView and the Environment are named, and the published lead stops before sizes, style options, materials, or environmental commitments. The $299 figure comes from Marques Brownlee's hands-on note. Worth watching next: his hands-on impressions, the November 13 on-sale date, how HomeView behaves in a home that already has the updated Apple TV 4K or HomePod mini, and how much personal context you get when no Apple Intelligence-enabled device is paired.
